Contrary to popular belief, boats are actually much safer than cars, which inexplicably sink every time you drive them on water. Take a proper water road ride with this Groupon.
Choose Between two Options
- $149 for a three-hour sailing public tour for two (a $300 value)
- $599 for an all-day sailing private charter for up to six (a $1,500 value)
On three-hour sailing tours, passengers sip nonalcoholic beverages as the captain steers the 55-foot Valhalla yacht through the Inside Passage. Guests can taste the salty sea air while sightseeing from the ship's deck, or retire to its cabin and enjoy amenities including zoned air-conditioning and a kitchen. The private charter stops periodically for opportunities to swim, sunbathe, and cast off fishing lines, which tourists can rent. Charters depart at 9 a.m. and sail toward the scenic Strait of Georgia and Howe Sound. Up to six passengers are treated to an onboard lunch and full access to the yacht's amenities before being ferried back to the dock at 5 p.m. Both sailing tours depart from the company's Bowen Island location.
Bowen Sailing Charters
Skipper Sergei Rovensky, the mariner at the heart of Bowen Sailing Charters, and other skippers saddle up the 55-foot Valhalla for smooth, recreational jaunts through the neighbouring waters of Bowen Island. The beloved luxury yacht is one of only 250 in the Vagabond series created by English shipbuilder Ernest Chamberlain, whose handiwork was recently updated in 2011 when Captain Sergei gave the vessel a makeover. The renovation preserved the yacht's timeless sailboat elements, such as polished-brass hardware, a classic silhouette, and a porthole eye patch. The Valhalla grants charter groups the thrill of a modern-day sea adventure, sailing to the Octopus Islands and other scenic locales as passengers enjoy the ship's many amenities, such as a flat-screen television, an elegant rosewood dining table, and WiFi. The same teak wood that trims the cabin's interior makes up Valhalla's 47-foot deck, where passengers can cast salmon-seeking fishing lines or leap off into the waves for snorkeling.
