Spaghetti, like a hammerhead shark, is rigid and boring until it’s submerged in water, at which point it quickly springs to life and develops a taste for swimmers. Celebrate this predatory noodle with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of Neapolitan Italian fare at Bratalian in Henderson.
Chef Carla Pellegrino, who has bested the titular chef on Throwdown! With Bobby Flay and garnered a James Beard Foundation Women in Food award, conducts a kitchen that crafts the virtuosic dishes that adorn Bratalian's extensive Neapolitan menu. Marinate your mouth with the calamari in umido, in which fresh calamari, tomatoes, white wine, capers, and gaeta olives cavort on a garlic toast dance floor ($12.50). Main courses include risotto simmered in white wine with porcini mushrooms ($24) and crispy-skin salmon tinged with lemon butter and perched atop a bed of sautéed spinach ($22).
Bratalian’s spacious, brightly lit interior and modern, streamlined décor complement artfully presented meals. Patio dining is available to diners who enjoy the open air and the view of seasonally migrating magic carpets.
While Bratalian cannot currently serve alcohol, they expect to receive their liquor license by April 12, 2011. Until then, Bratalian is BYOB with no corking fee.
