What You'll Get
The Issue: Breast Cancer Affecting People Across the Country
Every two minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. Though awareness efforts have helped mitigate the problem, this disease still affects the lives of more than 300,000 men and women every year. Scientific research remains best way to reduce the occurrence of breast cancer and save lives. Already, both incidence and death rates have been falling since 2000. By continuing to promote and fund research, scientists can help prevent the influence of this disease.

About Breast Cancer Research Foundation
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation finds the best research occurring around the country and funnels support into those projects and institutions, with 88% of its fundraising efforts going to research and 3% to awareness programs. That's why it gained the highest rating of any breast-cancer organization from Charity Watch and Charity Navigator. In addition to grassroots funding, members host fundraisers of their own, sponsoring parties, marathons, cycling, and video-game events to funnel money into scientific research. Through these efforts, the organization has raised more than half a billion dollars for nearly 10 million hours of research into heredity, prevention, treatment, and metastasis at institutions ranging from The University of Chicago Medical Center to the Yale School of Public Health.
