Based in Detroit, Breathe Art Theatre Project crosses the border to deliver contemporary and socially provocative stage productions to Canadian stagegoers. Playwright Steven Dietz's political thriller Yankee Tavern takes place in an ailing barroom blocks away from New York City's Ground Zero circa 2006. Light conversational dialogue rife with conspiracy theories precedes a second act tinged with ominous confusion and paranoia, its content exploring blurred lines between truth and artifice.
- minutes after “the curtain” rose, absolutely no one in that audience was heeding a thing except the words and the actions on the stage. Formed in 2004, this respiration repertory is committed to producing challenging and relevant plays. – Real Detroit Weekly
