Jump to: Trouble Brewing
Boasting more than 100 breweries, Colorado is the nation's capital of beer. Legends tell of gurgling mountain springs that bubble pilsners in the height of summer and rich chocolate stouts through the cold winter months. Today's Groupon takes you on magic ride through some of Denver's magnificent craftworks: $35 gets you a tour of three craft breweries with Brewery Buzz, the Willy Wonka of beer (minus the elaborate traps for children).
You and up to 15 other wide-eyed hopophiles will be picked up in a short school bus and whisked away for a five- to six-hour sampling of the finest microbrews the Denver area has to offer. You'll travel to three breweries, and dip your ladle in cool rivers of bubbly goodness. You'll gaze with wonder into the gleaming vats of malt and hops as you hear the history of each stop. On the rides between breweries you'll be regaled with trivia and merriment, and may even a swap a few tales about Lance, the legendary beer-drinking eagle. Food is provided throughout the tour to keep your strength up to the tippling-point.
The Brewery Buzz bus picks you up and drops you off at the greater Denver location of your choice, so you can safely sample every delectable brew. Click here to see upcoming Denver brewery tour dates posted through November 1, 2009. Tours are offered most Saturdays or Sundays.
Brewery tours are an American tradition, dating back to the 1790s, when the vast majority of Americans actually worked in breweries—a system which many legislators still hope to return. Until that day comes, brewery tours remain largely recreational, although these are a few you’ll want to avoid.
- Bevvington Ale Brewery Tour and Unregulated Mineshaft Experience (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)
- Loud Uncle Rick’s One World Government Stout Emporium (Santa Cruz, California)
- Brooklyn Benny’s New York Style Big Apple Brewery, (Plano, Texas)
