For $15, today's Groupon gets you $35 worth of food and drink at Brightwood Bistro, located at 5832 Georgia Ave. NW. If you forgot about Father's Day, grab a Groupon and have brunch with dad so you can publicly kneel before him and beg for his forgiveness.
Brightwood's menu is full of American cuisine that's prepared and served by a friendly staff. Try the classic Brightwood burger made of angus beef, the beefsteak tomato and onion salad, or the tasty all-beef hotdog. If that's not enough for you, order additional entrees—mussels, crab cakes, or fish 'n grits—off the amazing, delicious seafood menu. And if that still isn't enough for you, simply ask for an angus beef burger to be wrapped in a larger angus beef burger.
Five friends who grew up in the neighborhood opened Brightwood Bistro; it's as if the movie The Sandlot had taken place in Brightwood and the kids grew up and started a restaurant together. If you want to support truly local businesses, you'll want to dine at Brightwood Bistro. Its clean, modern decor offers an airy, relaxed atmosphere perfect for a casual night out with friends or a date with Kathy Peterson of 325 DuPont Rd. Apt #5A. The dining room is lined with large windows that provide historical views.
Reviews
Brightwood Bistro is adored by many, including The Washington Post, folks at MenuPages, and Zagat reviewers. Yelpers give Brightwood four stars. Here's what they're dishing out:
- "Excellent food and friendly service is [sic] upscale building in not so upscale neighborhood. Prices definitely are not upscale. All four diners thought food was superb. Recommend all rush there before iti [sic] is discovered." – marcb1103397, Zagat
- "Brightwood Bistro is a great spot. My dad and I stumbled in from the January cold shortly before the restaurant had actually opened for the day, and the waitress happily sat us without even a veiled complaint. The food was a pleasant surprise, everything was delicious and inspired, such a welcome break from the local alternatives of McDonald's, etc. This place's artful twists on soul food and the like truly serve to benefit anyone who makes their way up to Brightwood in time for such a meal. I would highly suggest the hot dogs - the best I've had in years." – Aaron J., Yelp
- "Our family has returned a few times to enjoy the atmosphere and delicious food. The shrimp and grits are fantastic, creamy grits and a flavorful sauce. The hamburgers satisfied the children's needs while providing them with fine quality meat and bun to upgrade the experience. Service was attentive and thoughtful. We'll be back." – Anonymous, MenuPages
All-Seasons Dining
According to Brightwood Bistro's website, you can enjoy its delicious food "during the lazy summer months, cold winter, spring or fall." That's right, this is the first restaurant to capture the elusive and previously untapped dining market of all-seasons diners. How did they do this? It's actually quite simple: Brightwood Bistro is encased in a temperature-regulating structure, so no matter what the weather is outside, it's comfortable enough inside to consume and digest food. Lucky for us, the first restaurant to achieve this feat also has a wonderful atmosphere and some Zagat-rated entrees that will please you even more than the convenience of all-seasons eating.
