Today’s no-nonsense society requires quick answers and fast thinking in order to become successful and eventually own a stable of expensive goats. For $5, today’s Groupon lets you learn from certified professionals, with tickets to any improv performance at Brody Theater (up to a $10 value). Sharpen your thinking-on-your-toes skills and learn to approach any situation with comedic grace.

With a wealth of improvisation knowledge studiously absorbed from textbooks, Brody Theater’s crew is committed to performing. See the rigorously competitive Theatresports, a show based on audience suggestions that lets you choose which of two performing teams better captures the spirit of funny. Or check out the Antiques Improv Show, where real antiques, collectibles, and oddities brought in by the audience serve as the props for improvised hilarity. Check the current and upcoming show schedules to decide on the source of your impending belly laughs. This deal is good for any Friday night and Saturday night performances, which are at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

After the frighteningly serious way you handled that white meat vs. dark meat Thanksgiving debate, show your friends that the tickle spots of your soul are still within reach. With the quality of writing going straight downstream to unspeakingably foul waters, it’s a good time to see what unscripted entertainment has to offer. The limits of comedy will be jabbed at and prodded in new directions, and in the process, the versatility of the human spirit may even shine through like a bald eagle wearing a vest made of mirrors.

Reviews

One Yahoo! Traveler gives Brody Theater four stars, as do three Yelpers:

  • It wasn't what I expected. They took a single suggestion and used it to start this quirky, hilarious play. – Brad, Yahoo! Travel
  • These guys are funny, their new space rocks, and you can't beat the price. – Grammar G., Yelp
  • Some of these people are just genuinely funny. – Tom S., Yelp

At the beginning of each improv show, the performers ask the audience for a suggestion. This frequently results in 10 to 20 minutes of awkward silence, followed by the performers leaving the stage, until an hour of silence passes and a bold audience member finally speaks up with the brilliantly conceived suggestion fart, but his genius call rings coldly across the quiet stage, too tardy to be hilariously interpreted by the cast.
