Brotzeit Lokal invites patrons to participate in the German custom of enjoying a snack and relaxing with a beer; a tradition known as Brotzeit! Here, tables face picturesque views of the Estuary, Coast Guard Island, and Alameda. In fact, Brotzeit is right next to the Oakland Marina and has spaces available for guests to park their boats, kayaks, or whatever else they paddle up in, while they dine.
In keeping with the German theme, Brotzeit Lokal's chefs plate up traditional Bavarian dishes like jager schnitzel and bratwurst, made with local ingredients. They create their own sausages and condiments, including sauerkraut and mustard, and rely on all natural grass-fed beef from Niman Ranch for their burgers. This hearty food pairs especially well with their hard-to-find German beers, some of which come from small family breweries, microbreweries, and monasteries in Germany, Belgium, and California.
