Running a race is a great way to practice running away from an angry grizzly bear or toward a charismatic mountain lion. Keep pace with nature with today's Groupon: for $35, you get an individual registration for the Five Mile Lake Women's Triathlon (a $70 value) from BTO Multisports, held at Five Mile Lake Park in Auburn on Saturday, June 18 at 8 a.m.
Helmed by USA Triathlon–certified Race Director Porter Bratten, BTO Multisports pushes skeletal systems to the extreme with an energy-fueled cascade of running, swimming, and cycling competition. Challenge land, sea, and foot-powered legs to the all-female Five Mile Lake Women's Triathlon. The hustling commences by storming the mineral Five Mile Lake for a quarter-mile swim before replacing floaties with inflatable bike helmets during the two-loop, 14-mile cycling ride along the suburban bike path. Finish up with a 3.1-mile trek along a portion of the cycling route and lake as bipedal limbs take center stage to show off built-in toe traction. Every finisher will be bestowed with a medal followed by a smorgasbord of competition perks, including a 4"x6" sponsor snapshot of you participating in the race or devouring the post-race refreshments.
To help provide the game-day activities and prizes, BTO has summoned a sound council of sponsors, including Real Rehab, Sara Lee, and Sweet Beauty. Race packets will be available for pickup at the park on June 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., or on the day of the race from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
Non-USAT members must bring a $10 check or cash on race day to cover the membership insurance fee.
