What You'll Get
Unbeknownst to most seafaring explorers, the only gold in Davy Jones' locker was the embossed pages of his biology textbook. Celebrate the collision of scurvy curs and collegiate life with today's Groupon: for $10, you get five separate gate admissions or gate admission for five people to the Buc Days Festival, presented by the Buccaneer Commission April 28–May 8 (up to a $20 value). The Buc Days Festival offers $3 admission for children younger than 17 and seniors older than 65. Children less than 36" tall gain free admission opening night.
The Buc Days Festival has been celebrating pirate rabblerousing while raising money to gift upstanding landlubbers scholarships for more than 70 years. Festivities kick off with a mayoral dunking off of the ceremonial plank, whetting swashbuckling appetites for 10 more days of carnival tomfoolery, including music, pirate entertainment, and peg-leg pedicuring competitions.
Little sea marauders can learn the pirate code and hone their captaining skills in the buccaneer boot camp until they're ready to don an eye patch and replace half of their basic vocabulary with grunts. For an additional fee, barbecue cook-offs, parades, and carnival rides allow patrons to defy gravity and sea law with hearty flavors and adrenaline-pumping action. A portion of the proceeds go toward the Buccaneer Commission scholarship program, which grants scholarships for music, costumed dance performance, welding, and more.
The Buc Days Festival offers $1 admission on opening night and wristband discounts on certain days of the festival; plan ahead redeem your Groupon at the most opportune time.
