Buck's American Cafe
Buck's American Cafe exudes local character. The café occupies Riverside Square's historic Swalwell building, which was originally built in 1880. Over the years, the building housed one of the area's first banks, a haberdashery, and, according to rumor, a speakeasy. Buck's American Cafe embraces this sense of history by immersing diners in a cozy, lounge-like space complete with dark wooden wainscoting, vintage photographs, and mounted fish and game.
The menu shares a similar spirit. One-pound rib-eye steaks and tempura-fried Alaskan halibut and chips with housemade tartar sauce showcase classic flavors. At the same time, the selection includes dishes such as cod almondine, seafood salads, and burgers. To accompany the food, the bar offers draft beers and wines, including a large number of bottles from Washington wineries.
