Country musicians possess a knack for storytelling, which explains why most artists in the genre started out as kindergarten teachers or Stephen King. Treat ears to sonically spun yarns with today's Groupon to Buda Fire Fest in Buda City Park from Friday, September 30, through Sunday, October 2. Choose from the following options:

  • For $29, you get two weekend passes to the festival (a $60 value).
  • For $15, you get two general-admission passes for Friday, September 30 (a $30 value). Gates open at 6 p.m. with a concert at 8 p.m.
  • For $15, you get two general-admission passes for Saturday, October 1 (a $30 value). Gates open at 8 a.m. with activities starting at 9 a.m.
  • For $15, you get two general-admission passes for Sunday, October 2 (a $30 value). Gates open at 10 a.m. with activities starting at 11 a.m.

With proceeds benefiting the local fire rescue, the Buda Fire Fest fills the weekend with a lineup of acclaimed musicians, family-friendly fun, and crowd-pleasing competitions. On Friday, the action-packed schedule kicks off at 8 p.m. with back-to-back performances from a lineup of country stars, including the Casey Donahew Band. Saturday’s all-day festivities entertain crowds with events such as the Ultimate Fire Fighter challenge, where competitors partake in feats of strength and agility, whereas local ladies see who can roar the hottest cartoon flames in the Miss Fire Fest pageant. Families pack up lawn chairs and blankets to sprawl in open outdoor seating for electrifying performances from Grammy-winners Little Joe & La Familia at 5 p.m on Sunday and lyrical tale-teller Roger Creager at 10 p.m. on Saturday. An array of activities entertains every taste, from the kids’ fun zone and junior contests to the cook-off, which sends the scent of prize-winning brisket, beans, and dragon-charred pork ribs through the park grounds.

Though not included in this Groupon, festival-goers can support local businesses and help the fire department save up for a 45 fire hydrant by partaking in extra activities such as the partners’ washer tournament ($40/entry), or grazing a selection of snacks, beverages, and arts and crafts.
