The Butter Run Saloon takes more than 200 of its premium whiskeys to the Barrister Garden Banquet Center for the Whisky Experience, a tasting event on a massive scale. Brand ambassadors from Canadian Club, Monkey Shoulder, and Valentine Vodka lead informative seminars while attendees rub shoulders with the real star of the show—the whiskey. From familiar faces such as Maker’s Mark to a 12-year dram from Yamazaki, which took home top honors at this year’s World Whiskey Awards, the beverages offer a tremendous range in character, origin, and age. Whiskeys come in from Scotland, Ireland, the Americas, Canada, and Japan. And from a little closer to home comes an experiment by New Holland Brewing Company: the brewers have expanded their horizons with a bourbon aged in the beer barrels that made them famous. But the fest goes beyond revelry, as the proceeds benefit the Luella M. Harden Foundation, a charity raising money for college scholarships and the Leukemia Society.
