Cafe Med serves a variety of familiar Mediterranean dishes, but it also pioneers new explorations into the art of the gyro. Cooks offer no less than 14 varieties of gyro, from the classic blend of meat and cucumber sauce to the spicy Spartan gyro, loaded with giardiniera in honor of the hot peppers that ancient Spartans flung at their enemies. They also whip up sandwiches on hoagies or foccacia bread, create specialty desserts such as tiramisu, and offer some retail products, including jars of olives, for sale.
