Q:

My husband and I are both interested in this. Can i buy this groupon and he buy one as well and then can we sign up for the same day?

Amy n.  asked on  Mar 18, 2013

A:

Yes of course, you'll be able to sign up for any course dates we have going all summer. Just make sure to register for the same one. We have courses running most saturdays and sundays all summer. After your purchase, you register online on our website with your groupon coupon. So you should be able to find a date with 2 open spots.

Q:

What kind of foot-ware is recommended for this climb?

 asked on  Mar 16, 2013

A:

Climbing shoes and the rest of the equipment will be provided by us. For the approach, or hike to the climbing area, anything from hiking boots to running shoes are fine. It's a 10-15 minute flat trail walk from where we park.

You do not need a partner. The other lesson participants will be your partners. Everyone will be climbing and belaying together.

Q:

Where does the outdoor climbing take place? Grassy Lakes?

dave s.  asked on  Mar 15, 2013

A:

We can go to a variety of locations. Most of these classes will be run at Wasootch Creek in the Kananaskis area. It's a great place to learn and very scenic. Sometimes we'll go to other locations depending on the weather or group activities. The location of each class will be emailed to each participant with their final confirmation package the week of their course.

Q:

My climbing partner and I have only done indoor climbs but we aren't complete beginners. Would this be a good introduction to outdoor climbing or is it going to be a lot of learning to tie knots and learning how to belay?

Erin F.  asked on  Mar 15, 2013

A:

Hi Erin, this lesson would be perfect for you! Yes, the instructors will teach the basics of knots, harnesses and belaying to everyone who have never done it before, but after that, your set and climbing for the rest of the day. They'll also show you belaying considerations for the great outdoors, there's a couple things that change versus the indoor habits.... This is mostly a climbing on rock lesson! You'll just have the upper hand for the first 30 minutes or so. Hope that helps. Calgary Climbing Centre Outdoors
