California Automobile Museum

The California Automobile Museum weaves the story of the automobile's birth and development through a gleaming collection of cars that dates back to the 1880s. Guests meander through 72,000 square feet of luxury and muscle vehicles, from pre–Model T Fords and green vehicles to Lamborghinis and modern NASCAR vehicles. In addition to its permanent collection and current exhibits, the museum's displays are always changing due to donations from private collectors and the hot rod fairy, allowing visitors to see a varying display of vehicles on different visits. One new exhibit focuses on the beauty and culture surrounding motorcycles in California, featuring 60 "hogs" bound to impress the novice and veteran motorcyclist alike. The museum also offers a wide variety of classes that are fun and educational, and open to both adults and children. Guests can also visit the gift shop stocked with auto-centric goodies, including car-related fine-art photography, T-shirts, kids' arts and crafts, and die-cast models of classic cars.

Customer Reviews

We had a wonderful time at the Museum! If you can, find one of the Docents to take you around - especially if you don't know much about cars. Mike was absolutely wonderful and gave us a lot more insight than what was just on the placards.

We arrived 10 minutes before they opened. The young man came out and said they were all set up and to come in. He was so nice, so easy going, we felt welcomed. It was fascinating and obviously a labor of love.

The California Auto Museum was a great place to take my husband on his birthday --- a former Auto Technician. We had a great time!
