A Bay Area holiday family tradition, Christmas Revels is back for its 30th annual show -- this time with a 1620's Venetian twist, overflowing with vibrant costumes, multiple masks and even an audience participation gondola race. This year's production finds a troupe of ragged Commedia Dell Arte players arriving in Renaissance Venice and quickly infiltrating the Duke's elaborate Solstice Festival, which of course leads to comic chaos. As always, the chorus of adults, teens and children will add to the warmth, along with storytelling and performances by accomplished regulars and newcomers, at Oakland's Scottish Rite Center.
Running time is two hours and 15 minutes, with one 15-minute intermission.
Parking will be available at the ALCO Park Garage located three blocks from the theater at 1220 Jackson Street at 13th Street. BART’s Lake Merritt Station and 19th Street Station are each six blocks from the theater.
