Very friendly staff. Planetarium show is very nice. Todd is knowledgeable regarding his presentation of stars & planets. Added personal information too which was nice. Trails have tree cover but still it was hot for walking. Aviary talk was informative, I felt saddened by injured raptors. Butterfly house small scale but full of butterflies at this time.

I thought it was very good. They are still doing lots of work there, and volunteers are welcome. They are very informative both in the natural nature and invasive nature of Florida. All of us in my party enjoyed the planetarium show very much. It would be very helpful if they had a map of the whole area, especially the trails . Otherwise a good experience!!

We have been a couple times now and although it is a smaller center, the staff is great and our son loves seeing the reptiles.

We had a great time. Great volunteers with so much knowledge. The bird talk was amazing, never seen a bald eagle so close, even got to watch feeding time. The planetarium show wasn’t the best I’ve seen but still pretty good and longer than expected. Definitely worth the visit

Planetarium show was extremely outdated, boring and bad taste for children. The wild life commentator was fantastic, the lady with the pink ponytail, she loved her job and loved her birds of pray, she was the best part of the Nature Center. Little to say about the ticket taker, she would not help us with our online tickets and was very unfriendly. Would not recommend the Nature Center.

The two educators that did the presentations at the Planetarium and Butterfly House and Aviary were fantastic! Very informative and personable and the Planetarium show was great. We were disappointed at the lack of animals. Most of the outdoor cages were empty but we were told they were undergoing some changes and it was a temporary situation.

About Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium

Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium, an environmental education non-profit that began as a project by Lee County's Junior Welfare League in the 1960s, is a 105-acre facility that hosts injured wildlife native to the Fort Myers area in addition to surrendering. These animals—plus the birds of prey from their rehabilitation aviary, the newest addition to the property—are the stars of daily animal demos and special talks by volunteers and specialists.

After a stroll through the butterfly house or down one of three walking trails, which meander through the cypress dome swamp and neighboring pine flatlands, guests take a load off at the onsite planetarium: the 44-foot dome can host up to 90 people for their astronomy and laser shows. Camps, field trips, and nature clubs take advantage of the meeting pavilions and picnics areas around the nature center.
