Planetarium show was changed , was disappointed with new one-Chili Observatories, this could be on a PBS showing. I wanted to see the sky, our guide offered to play it for us. We stayed for it and was very pleased. Kids may be bored, and may be too long to sit thru.

Awesome place to view snakes, turtles, and birds at the mini-museum. Nature trail is maintained, except for the poison ivy which if you don’t know what to look for you will definitely rub up against.. overall a cool place to spend a couple of hours and to support their efforts of conservation and rehabilitation for native wildlife.

Really enjoyed the planetarium. But, the live animal show consisted of one baby alligator and the feeding of two adults. When I asked where the animal show was, nobody seemed to know, and there was no signage anywhere for the main entrance or anyplace else.

My 11-year old son and I visited for the first time today. We moved to Pine Island from Missouri 2 years ago. We are just now settled and starting to, "Really Explore" SW Florida. We had a beautiful time today. I highly recommend you visit! -Gina, momma of Louis

About Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium

Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium, an environmental education non-profit that began as a project by Lee County's Junior Welfare League in the 1960s, is a 105-acre facility that hosts injured wildlife native to the Fort Myers area in addition to surrendering. These animals—plus the birds of prey from their rehabilitation aviary, the newest addition to the property—are the stars of daily animal demos and special talks by volunteers and specialists.

After a stroll through the butterfly house or down one of three walking trails, which meander through the cypress dome swamp and neighboring pine flatlands, guests take a load off at the onsite planetarium: the 44-foot dome can host up to 90 people for their astronomy and laser shows. Camps, field trips, and nature clubs take advantage of the meeting pavilions and picnics areas around the nature center.
