A Chat with Camarillo Shotokan Karate
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Camarillo Shotokan Karate is the oldest traditional karate school in Camarillo. Besides the obvious self-defense benefits, students typically show an increase in confidence, awareness, balance, coordination, muscle tone, respect, and self-discipline, among many additional health benefits.
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
Students will be introduced to traditional Shotokan karate with clear explanations and expectations. As students progress, they will be encouraged and motivated to reach their potential. Students will learn to set and meet goals while learning traditional Shotokan karate techniques and etiquette.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Camarillo Shotokan opened its doors in 1981 when Sensei Victor Young (7th degree black belt) moved from Hawaii to sunny Southern California. Camarillo Shotokan is the oldest karate school in Camarillo. [There are] programs for students as young as 3 years old(pre-karate) up through adults.
What do you love most about your job?
The thing that I love most about teaching karate is seeing growth in the students. Many times, a student will give karate a try in order to work on some type of self-improvement (level of confidence, low muscle tone, lack of focus, stress relief, etc.). I can confidently say that they all improve.
