Distance swimmer Diana Nyad first gained national attention in 1975 when she swam around Manhattan, and again in 1979 when she swam from the Bahamas to Juno Beach, Florida. In 2013, age the age of 64, she became the first person confirmed to swim the 110 miles from Cuba to Florida without the aid of a shark cage – her fifth such attempt. Nyad’s success story is filled with lessons for all of us: Never give up. You’re never too old to chase your dreams. It takes a team. The lessons are so universal that she’s written a book, titled Find a Way, that’s set for a fall release. Be inspired when Nyad takes the stage at Kanbar Hall to share the lessons she learned by facing her fears and living without regrets.
