Every December, art professionals and enthusiasts descend on Miami for Art Week, and this year you can be one of them. In the heart of Midtown Miami -- alongside powerhouse art fairs like Art Basel, Art Miami, Scope and The Miami Project -- SPECTRUM showcases innovative new art in an elegant, gallery-style exhibition space. A single-day pass allows you to attend the opening preview or any one day of the event. A 5-day pass gets you into the opening preview and all four days of the event. This year's theme is [EMERGENCE]: Innovative Vision Coming to Life. This theme explores the act of illumination, of creativity emerging from the artist. The abundance of trend-setting artists and galleries exhibiting at SPECTRUM Miami will reflect this theme, as will the show's special programming, including Art Labs, Art Talks, and the Spotlight Artist and LaunchPad Programs. It's also a chance to check out one of Miami's hottest neighborhoods. The exhibition space is located in the Wynwood Art District, dubbed "the next up-and-coming neighborhood" (Miami Herald) and the "sixth most stylish neighborhood in the world" (Complex magazine).
Programs available at this year’s SPECTRUM Miami:
ArtSpot International Art Show is a standalone event hosted this year inside Spectrum Miami. The show is replicating a model introduced to the Miami art community last year, and will present carefully selected modern, contemporary, and cutting-edge galleries with a strong Latin-American emphasis. ArtSpot is curated by director Aldo Castillo, one of the most respected authorities on modern and contemporary art. An award-winning art dealer and curator, Castillo has curated over 250 international art exhibitions and the development of many important public and private collections in Chicago and around the world.
Art Labs: feature special curated projects by several leading Miami-based art institutions, alternative spaces, and universities within the show.
Artplay: Watch art come alive during Artplay, as Life Is Art’s specially chosen group of artists create their next masterpiece right in front of the crowds at Spectrum Miami. Inspired by Spectrum’s [EMERGENCE] theme, the artists will offer a glimpse into how each piece of art uniquely emerges, giving light to the artist’s creativity and medium.
Light the Night: Spectrum Miami presents the work of three artists at the forefront of video, light mapping, and interactive installation. Their work will illuminate the facade, patio, and Sculpture Garden of Spectrum Miami, celebrating the ways we are shaped by art that intervenes with our built and natural environment.
Arte Cuba: ARTE Cuba is a standalone event hosted by Redwood Media Group at Art San Diego and Spectrum Miami. The show will present a carefully curated group of Cuban modern, contemporary, and cutting-edge art represented by galleries, art dealers, and the artists themselves.
Spotlight Artists: The Spotlight Artists Program provides collectors a focused look at several cutting-edge artists who will each be creating a site-specific solo exhibition. This year, the artists selected are James Paterson, Humberto Benitez, Nicole Furman, Jeanne Bessette, and Max Zorn.
LaunchPad: Each year an emerging-unrepresented artist is selected to create a site-specific exhibition at the show.
Art Talks: offers panel discussions, conversations and provocative artistic discourse with leading artists, curators, designers and arts professionals.
