To ride the crest of a swelling wave, you need either a surfboard or a ticket to Behold, the Sea, the latest concert from The Washington Chorus. Wade into a rolling ocean of sound -- no wetsuit required -- as the Chorus fills the Kennedy Center's Concert Hall with Vaughan Williams' mighty A Sea Symphony. Based on Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass, this spectacular large-scale work was famously described by The New York Times as "big in contour, big in scope, big in feeling." The evening opens with Elgar's enormously popular Enigma Variations. Julian Wachner conducts the Grammy-winning choral ensemble along with soprano Colleen Daly, baritone Dana Whiteside and the Washington National Cathedral Choir of Boys and Girls.
