In this theatrical examination of peer pressure, sexual orientation and the quest for identity, a rumor about two good friends -- Matt and Luke -- sets the events of The Wrestling Season in motion. As gossip about one person's sexuality explodes into a streak of rumors about other students, the tumult and the humor of high school unfold as a wrestling match overseen and officiated by a referee, using the rules of wrestling as metaphors for life. An intriguing fusion of images, movement and sound, The Wrestling Season tells the interwoven tales of each individual involved, exploring what it's like to be a modern teenager in an ever-shifting world. Following each performance at Portland's Young Professionals Studio Theater, teens and their parents will have the unique opportunity to engage with the actors and discuss the choices their characters made within the play.
This show is recommended for ages 12 and older.
