Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose continues its celebratory 20th anniversary season with November Dreams, an eclectic concert featuring a Beethoven masterpiece, a regional premiere and more. The program's centerpiece is the West Coast premiere of Dreamtime Ancestors, a three-movement tone poem for orchestra based on an aboriginal Australian myth of a mystical "dreamtime" state where past, present and future converge. Virtuosic pianist Adam Marks, winner of the 2008 Orleans Competition for Contemporary Music, will join MCOSJ for Beethoven's stunning, stirring Piano Concerto No. 3. And the orchestra rounds out this concert at San Jose First United Methodist Church with Alexandre Tansman's Variations on a Theme of Frescobaldi (featuring performers from Piedmont Hills High School) and Brahms' Allegretto Grazioso from Symphony No. 2.
Running time: Approximately 100 minutes.
