Food Network devotees or anyone who wants a glimpse into the life of a foodie expert, this one's for you. Petworth Citizen restaurant in Washington D.C. will host cookbook author Lauren Keiper Stein and serve a three-course meal based on the recipes in her new book Fresh Made Simple. Stein is a journalist who's written for the Boston Globe and Reuters and her new book is a collection of simple (think five ingredients or less), fresh and delicious recipes accompanied by whimsical illustrations, making it a fun introduction to cooking for newbie adults or children who want to help in the kitchen. The dinner will feature lots of fresh, seasonal vegetables and everyone will receive a signed copy of the book, so you can try your hand at the dishes when you get home. Guests will receive a three-course meal full of fresh, seasonal vegetables. There will be table service and wine. Guests will also get a signed copy of the book, Fresh Made Simple signed by the author. Guests with dietary restrictions can be accommodated as long as they let the venue know ahead of time. Advance notice is not needed for vegetarian guests.
The planned menu is as follows:
*Mushroom bake (tortilla, crispy kale, shitake, aleppo, avocado puree)
*Crispy smashed new potatoes (kale pesto, parmesan)
*Salt-baked celery root with apple, manchego and yuzu
*Vanilla semifreddo (candied bread, mascarpone, honey)
