Virtuoso pianist Per Tengstrand resumes his explorations of the music of Ludwig van Beethoven at Scandinavia House with The Beethoven Sonatas. The latest installment of the Music on Park Avenue series showcases Tengstrand, described by The Washington Post as "technically resplendent, powerful, intuitively secure," and some of Beethoven's most popular music for the piano. He'll be playing Sonata No. 15 in D Major, called the Pastoral Sonatra, and highlighting the composer's love of nature. He'll also perform Sonata No. 16 in G Major, considered by some to be Beethoven's answer to Mozart's Ein musikalischer Spaß (A Musical Joke). There will be a pre-concert talk by Tengstrand before the performance.
