Last season, the Axelrod String Quartet set out an ambitious goal for itself: the traversal of Haydn's Op. 76 quartets. During this season, over the course of three concerts at the National Museum of American History, the Axelrod String Quartet will complete its mission. This first date features guest artist double bass player Deborah Dunham joining the quartet to perform Dvorak's String Quintet in G Major, Op. 77, which the Axelrod introduces with his Quartet in D Minor, Op. 34. Find out more about the composers and their music from Kenneth Slowik, the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society's artistic director, at a pre-concert lecture.
