This year's Glory of Christmas boasts a sleighful of great holiday music that runs the gamut from John Williams' score from the hit movie Home Alone and exciting new settings of traditional carols from Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo and Seattle composer Eric Banks to sacred favorites by Benjamin Britten and Franz Biebl. For more than four decades, this annual concert from the Oregon Repertory Singers has heralded the arrival of the season in Portland, and the joyful tradition continues at First United Methodist, as in years past, with various youth choirs joining for the finale.
These concerts include guest performances by students from the following choirs:
Dec. 6: Oregon Episcopal School & the ORS Youth Choirs
Dec. 11: Alder Creek Middle School
The show runs approximately two hours, with one intermission.
Please note: We welcome all family members to Glory of Christmas, but recommend that you leave home small children who will have difficulty sitting through the entire concert. Some pieces are upbeat or familiar, while others are more contemplative or unknown, which may be challenging for small children.
