Just before completing this Requiem Mass, Mozart died, leaving the world one last, if unfinished, masterpiece. City Ballet of San Diego resident choreographer Elizabeth Wistrich has spun his masterpiece into one of her own, creating a haunting vision of Mozart's magnificent score that was a big hit in the 2014 season. Back again this year, the ballet features the entire company of dancers, the City Ballet Orchestra and the 80-voice Pacific Coast Chorale, conducted by John Nettles. Wistrich also world premieres her second ballet created to rock composer Beth Hart's music. And City Ballet resident choreographer Geoff Gonzalez will also debut his newest work, a series of four duets set to the music of Claude Debussy, with a live pianist on the Spreckels Theatre stage. Arrive early for a lecture by artistic director Steven Wistrich before each performance.
