Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater gave its first, now-fabled performance in March 1958 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City and are back in the City with a dazzling array of new offerings. Originally led by Alvin Ailey, today, the company continues his mission of celebrating modern African-American dance by presenting important works of the past and commissioning new ones.
