The Pirates of Penzance is packed with Gilbert and Sullivan's funny fast-paced banter and some of the duo's wittiest and most engaging tunes -- most famously the immortal "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General." This seafaring operetta revolves around handsome young pirate's apprentice Frederic. Expecting to be released from servitude on his 21st birthday, he meets and falls in love with the beauteous young Mabel, but the poor lad soon discovers that, due to a leap-year technicality, his pirate apprenticeship lasts four times longer than usual. This take on the beloved comic musical is presented by Neverland Theatre Company at First Universalist Society of Salem.
