Adapted from the Danish Dogme 95 film The Celebration, this powerful drama unfolds at a family-run hotel at which friends and family have gathered to celebrate the 60th birthday of their patriarch Helge. As the evening unfolds, dark secrets bubble to the surface, exposing the false cheerfulness of the family in the wake of Christian, Helge's adult son, and his struggles to free himself from his past. The biggest production yet from New Century Theatre, Festen -- adapted for the stage by David Eldridge and directed by Tony Award nominee Wilson Milam -- can be seen on the stage of Seattle's 12th Ave Arts.
This show contains adult situations, language and nudity. It is recommended for ages 16 and older.
