Throwing rocks and sweeping a broom have never been as much fun as they are in the sport of curling. So whether you're an experienced Canuck or a stone-cold newbie, you'll want to come and check out this fun ice-based activity for the whole family at the L.A. Kings Valley Ice Center. Invented more than 500 years ago, the sport of curling has been mega-popular in Canada and Scotland for years, and is a crowd favorite at the Winter Olympics. All equipment and instruction will be provided, and you'll get an excellent introduction to the basics, including sliding stones, sweeping, and game strategy. And, fun fact: It only takes one introductory session to become eligible to play in a Hollywood Curling league.
Hollywood Curling provides all the necessary equipment for this session. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can lunge in (stretch!), warm socks, and rubber soled, closed toe shoes. Sneakers work well. (We suggest no Converse, Toms, or other low-profile soles — your feet will get cold!) Dress in layers (it can be cold on the ice, but you’ll warm up once you start sweeping).
Kids ages 8 and up are welcome, but require a parent or guardian to sign a waiver.
