In the world premiere production of Wood Boy Dog Fish, a little wooden puppet comes to life at the hands of a tinkerer named Geppetto. But that's where the story's similarities to The Adventures of Pinocchio end. The Rogue Artists Ensemble has crafted a modern, macabre and, above all else, mature retelling of that classic children's tale. In their adult-skewed version, the cricket is killed, the Blue Fairy haunts us all and the legendary Dogfish monster preys on our greatest fears. Wood Boy Dog Fish will transform the stage at L.A.'s Bootleg Theater into the tumbledown tourist trap amusement park of Shoreside, where you'll find a visual feast that combines masks, highly expressive physical performance, dance and multiple puppetry traditions. You'll become fully immersed in the production with the aid of projected media and special effects and illusions -- including 3-D enhancement to recreate a scene inside an old carnival ride. (3-D glasses will be available at each performance for a suggested donation.)
This production contains adult language, suggested violence and elements of intensity. It is not recommended for audience members under the age of 13.
