The Redlands Symphony welcomes guest conductor Ransom Wilson for a trio of masterpieces including Leonard Bernstein's jazzy score to Fancy Free and Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite. Wilson has an international reputation both as a flutist and a conductor, with countless performances and over a dozen recordings (including two Grammy Award nominations). He's the first guest conductor of the three finalist candidates in the running to succeed Jon Robertson as music director and conductor of the Redlands Symphony. Each one will have the opportunity to guest conduct a concert featuring repertoire that best demonstrates their personality, skill and musical taste. And you'll be given the opportunity after the concert to express your opinion of the candidate, and thus play a role in the future of the symphony.
What’s on the Program:
Amilcare Ponchielli — Dance of the Hours (from La Gioconda)
Leonard Bernstein — Fancy Free
Igor Stravinsky — The Firebird Suite
