This Groupon is only valid for redemption at the 824 S. Wabash Avenue location. Classes are offered everyday except Wednesday at 6 p.m. with additional classes on Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m.

Canady Le Chocolatier whips up heavenly chocolate confections daily, and these crafters of cacao treats are ready to share their expertise, for good and not evil, with the toothsome tutorial "The Divine Art of Chocolate Making". Indulge in candy-coated knowledge with the course, as you and fellow students feast on delicious brain-nougat with a lecture on how chocolate is made. Students will then enjoy chocolate tastings, taking note of each treat's texture, tone, and timekeeping ability, before practicing proper tempering techniques, which leave the chocolates with a smooth and glossy finish. Concoct creamy fillings—options include ganaches and soft caramels—and then insert them into rich dark-, milk-, or white-chocolate overcoats as you craft your own customized box of chocolate goodness. Additional add-ons for your aphrodisiac appetite-appeaser include marzipan, truffles, coffee beans, ginger, and orange slices.

Classes are held in a state-of-the-art kitchen, specially designed to keep chocolate-loving cereal-box vampires at bay. Class sizes are limited to five to seven people, ensuring close attention from the instructor should a student fall face-first into a bowl of fondant. Rich dark, milk, and white chocolates filled with ganaches, soft caramel, and fondant lie nestled inside Canady Le Chocolatier's gift boxes, and their hand-made thai parchment paper wrapping—imprinted with an orchid and soft-green leaf design—ensures that eager fingers unwrap the decadent chocolates with care. Once they're free of their delicate packaging, truffles and bonbons prepared for special occasions, such as holidays and gourmet food fights, flood mouths with creaminess.

Those who are too eager to wait for the treats to emerge from their wrappings can venture into the shop, where owner Michael Canady whisks together his own gelato with fresh fruit and natural ingredients and griddles a selection of sweet and savory crêpes. I've taken Michael's gelato class twice, and found it both fun and interesting. Very hands on, lots of tasting, and through his conversational style of teaching, I learned enough to make excellent gelato at home. No problem to recommend this class!
