Numerous ecological regulations impact our fish, yet few volunteers are interested in doing the hard work of registering them to vote. Canvass your local waterways with today's Groupon, for a trip down the Little Manatee River from Canoe Outpost in Wimauma. Choose between two options:

  • For $19, you get one double-canoe or double-kayak rental (a $39.59 value).
  • For $16, you get one single-kayak rental (a $32.10 value).

Canoe Outpost provides sturdy ships to float nature lovers down the Little Manatee River, a picturesque stretch of the unspoiled Central Florida waters. After arriving at the outpost, river runners sign waivers and are issued life vests, paddles, and optional reflective facemasks, the only known protection against the manatee's paralyzing gaze. Canoes can hold three adults or two adults and two children; a single kayak can hold one person and a double kayak can hold two. Once proudly seated athwart their noble vessels, paddlers will cast off, making the five-mile, two-hour trek downriver to the pick-up point. State designated as "Outstanding Florida Water," the river is teeming with wildlife—visitors often see birds, fish, turtles, and the occasional languid alligator, wistfully dreaming of a successful lawsuit against Lacoste. Park facilities are available riverside, allowing paddle-pushers the opportunity to pack a picnic. A rope swing hangs over the river, ready to assist in aerial-aquatic interface maneuvers.

Those wishing for more nature time can navigate farther past the pick-up point, choosing between the Little and Big Manatee Loop. These extra routes last about an hour and 90 minutes, respectively, and contain even more wildlife as yet untainted by the fear of man. Vehicles arrive at the pick-up point throughout the afternoon to ferry customers and their vessels back to the main camp, allowing paddlers to take as much or as little time as they would like to explore the river or to try starting spontaneous song-and-dance routines with passing sea cows.
