Choose Between Two Options

  • $88 for a two-hour electric-boat rental with a catered dinner for two (a $176.98 value)
  • $125 for a two-hour private captained charter for up to 15 (a $254.85 value)

During two-hour rentals, duos board a 21-foot electric Duffy boat and explore Lady Bird Lake. Once at a scenic spot, passengers can turn up the boat's built-in stereo and devour an intimate meal straight from the Hyatt Regency hotel's kitchens. Choose dinner options such as shrimp pasta or deluxe fajitas packed with a half-pound of chicken and beef along with chips, guacamole, salsa, and iced tea. Guests steer themselves, though captains are available Monday–Wednesday for an additional cost.

Alternatively, a captain welcomes groups of 15 aboard a larger charter boat. The seasoned skipper takes care of all navigation as passengers take in views of bridges, foliage, and Austin's skyline.

Capital Cruises

Each night, about a half-hour before sunset, one of Capital Cruises' double-decker boats launches out onto Lady Bird Lake. Austin's skyline peeks its head over the tree-lined banks as the vessel floats toward the Congress Avenue Bridge. Once there, passengers watch the sun drop below the horizon and paint a streak of burnt orange across the sky in an action that seems to bring the bridge to life. Here, at one of the largest urban bat colonies on the continent, thousands of bats take flight and soar into the sky.

These bat tours are just one way Capital Cruises explores Lady Bird Lake. The crown jewel of its fleet, a 75-foot yacht, sets the stage for floating wedding parties and specialty cruises such as the Riverboat Gambler. During these trips, passengers play roulette and nibble fajitas, pasta, and barbecue catered by the Hyatt Regency hotel. Additionally, Capital Cruises' staff lets customers chart their own adventures with rentals of standup paddleboards, swan-shaped pedal boats, and 21-foot electric Duffy boats.

Customer Reviews

Awesome staff.
Jose L. · January 4, 2014
My husband and I had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and the fact that we got to be alone on the boat was a huge plus. It was great to have the stereo as we brought our IPOD and got to listen to music with dinner and cruising around. To see the bats from the water was super neat also. We will be going back for sure.
