Don't expect a huge city zoo. This is a small private collection that appears to be loved and well cared for. I liked the size with my 4 yr old. It wasn't as exhausting or overwhelming as visits to larger zoos have been. The big cats seemed happy

The zoo is fantastic! Unfortunately, the prizes for entrance fee and feed are higher than other zoos in this area. Thus, without a groupon, we would have probably chosen to go somewhere else. Furthermore, it's kind of far, and with gas prices so high, it adds to the overall expenses. With the Groupon though it was well worth the travel, time, and money. We surely would come back with another groupon.

We loved our guided tour. It was one of the coolest things we've ever done! We got to hand feed lemurs. Who wouldn't like that? Very knowledgable. We learned a ton we didn't know before about the zoo and we have been talking about it since we left. :)

What You'll Get

A zoo is the first place most people would go to see a leopard, whereas the second place would be the chainlink enclosure in Donald Sutherland’s backyard. Steer clear of Donald Sutherland with this Groupon.

About Capital of Texas Zoo

More than 500 animals inhabit the grounds at Capital of Texas Zoo, a haven for wildlife education and a breeding ground for more than 14 endangered species. The zoo's residents include zebras, ringtail lemurs, and a rare white tiger, not to be confused with a ghost tiger. Other appearances from the animal kingdom include peacocks, kangaroos, turtles, lions, and brand-new dingo babies.

Educational animal shows highlight a specific member of the zoo, such as the Wings show, which stars eurasian eagle owl Hedwig, who has made appearances on Late Show with David Letterman and in the movie Furry Vengeance. The zoo also takes to the road with traveling animal shows that involve a cast of six exotic reptiles, mammals, and birds, which makes appearances at birthday parties, schools, or events. With lessons catered to the age of the audience, the animals teach children to respect other living things and remind adults why they can’t keep falcons as pets.
