About Capo's

At Capo's, Chef Tony Gemignani and his team serve Italian-American cuisine—or, more specifically, they serve Italian-Chicagoan cuisine. That means plenty of deep-dish pizzas—the crusts made with flour from one of Chicago's oldest mills—and italian beef sandwiches smothered in giardiniera. Below, more highlights of San Francisco's most Chicago restaurant.

Cocktail you can't just get one of: the potent blend of cognac, Cointreau, prosecco, and angostura bitters called, unsurprisingly, the Chicago cocktail. Every order earns you a wooden token from an antique cash register, which you can use for $1 off your next Chicago cocktail or wear as a tiny hat.

Italian version of deep dish: the Quattro Forni. Translating to four ovens, this dish is an appetizer-sized square pizza cooked four different times in four different ovens. It takes so long to prepare, they only serve 10 per day.

Best monuments to the mob: the four spacious booths, each upholstered in red tufted leather and named for an infamous Chicago mobster. The Al Capone booth is really more like a mini-museum, as it's decorated with paraphernalia such as poker chips from the spot where Capone used to gamble.

Wise parting words: Respect the Craft," emblazoned on the side of the take-out boxes as a reminder of the staff's dedication to quality pizza.

Chef Tony also holds 11 world titles in pizza-making, including one in Naples, Italy, and is a published author of three books including The Pizza Bible. He is also the owner of several other pizza establishments like Tony's Pizza Napoletana, Slice House, Tony's Pizza Napoletana, Tony's Coal-Fired Pizza and Slice House, Little Tony's, three Pizza Rock locations, and Tony Gemignani's International School of Pizza. His restaurants have been featured on food and reality TV shows like The Chew, Rachel Ray, Bar Rescue, Food Paradise, Live! with Kelly and Michael, and Food Network's World Pizza Challenge, to name only a few.
