Instructors teach the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira – which blends one part dance with one part self-defense – six days a week. Classes focus on learning basic movements, honing new techniques, and enhancing coordination. Students also participate in practice matches, spinning, somersaulting, kicking, and dodging while a circle of peers, called a roda, claps to keep the rhythm of the dance.
