A Chat with Caribbean Zumba Queen
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I avoid utilizing boring aerobic movements in the Zumba routines I create—moves that some Zumba instructors tend to repeat constantly. I tend to make sure that I update my music list and pick songs that tend to be my clients’ favorites. I am personable and friendly and encourage clients to have fun!
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
Using fun, popular music and edgy movements that are both easy to follow and incorporate but also challenging in terms of achieving results. Clients feel like their moods are uplifted even only after their first class. I remember their names and make sure they feel special as I offer verbal appraise.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
To offer a workout for individuals that have trouble sticking to a workout routine due to boredom or frustration. Dancing is a workout in disguise and I find it to be fulfilling both emotionally and physically. And I want to inspire other non-dancers in a non-intimidating setting using low lights.
What do you love most about your job?
Building friendships, having people feel better about themselves, and having them see results in regards to their emotional and physical health. I have clients who tell me that they were depressed and found my Zumba classes help put smiles on their faces and felt an overall improvement in their health.
