Dancing is the second-best way to let the body do the talking, just short of being born with a secondary bellybutton mouth. Elegantly express yourself with today's Groupon: for $30, you get $63 toward a one-month dance class for youths and teens at Carolina Dance Capital. In addition to the $63 value, Groupon customers will also have the $50 registration fee waived.
Boasting awards from the Best of Citysearch 2009 and the Starpower National Competition 2011, Carolina Dance Capital's trained instructors groom flailing figures into athletic dance machines with a multitude of recreational classes and competitive teams. Toe tappers of any ability and as young as 2 can sashay into one of Carolina Dance's scheduled monthly sessions taught in class increments of 30 minutes ($58 for girls, $29 for boys), 45 minutes ($63 for girls, $31.50 for boys), and longer. Whether joining in the body-grooving moves of hip-hop, the delicate pirouettes of ballet, or the heel-versus-toe debates of jazz, each fanciful stepper receives personal attention in intimately sized classes. The family dance studio not only caters to young dancers but offers instruction for grown-up rug cutters as well.
Carolina's Dance Capital's 8,700-square-foot arena comes equipped with six dance studios cloaked in injury-prevention spring-loaded dance flooring. Dancers can utilize the student area in between foot flexes and body bends while parents relax in the spacious waiting area or stare through the observation windows and attempt to telepathically convince their offspring to finally clean her room.
Carolina Dance Capital
Carolina Dance Capital is a family affair. Husband and wife duo Fritz and Annette Schulte own the studio along with their daughter, Nina, who serves as artistic director. The rest of the staff includes eight regular dance instructors and more than 15 guest teachers and choreographers. In a variety of classes, they help students as young as two and as old as whatever to get fit and express themselves through ballet, jazz, tap, yoga, and Zumba.
Class sizes are kept small to encourage close personal attention and a supportive atmosphere. Six studios occupy the 8,700 square foot facility, and each is outfitted with observation windows, spring-loaded floors to prevent injury, and Super Soakers to facilitate Gene Kelly impressions. In addition to classes, pupils of all abilities can partake in cheer camps, workshops, and competitive dance teams. A waiting area for parents is equipped with complimentary WiFi.
