This tour was interesting but it was our tour guide Arty who is a great raconteur that made this a fun night out.

What You'll Get

Spooky is the most neglected of the five basic human emotions: spooky, joy, sorrow, grouchy, and wet. Get horror glands pumping with today’s Groupon for walking tours from Carolina History & Haunts. Choose between the following options:

  • For $28, you get four tickets to the 75-minute Beyond the Grave tour in Charlotte (up to a $60 value).
  • For $28, you get four tickets to the 90-minute Nightmares Around Elm Street tour in Greensboro (up to a $60 value). While this Groupon is valid for thrill-seekers of all ages, tickets for kids 7 and younger are free.

Carolina History and Haunts' knowledgeable tour guides blend historical fact and ghostly local lore in their cauldron to brew up eye-opening and spooky tours through the city's past for both visitors and residents. As the moon washes over Charlotte on Saturday evenings, guides in authentic 19th-century attire will lead groups of up to 30 by candlelit lantern to explore the Spirit Square Center for the Arts and the 1927 Carolina Theatre before eavesdropping on afterlife gossip in a haunted pub. Guests will then forge onward through several supernatural spots in the historical 4th Ward, including the old graves in Settlers’ Cemetery and Dracula’s summer condo. Alternatively, ghost-hunters can follow a guide through Greensboro, where they'll tiptoe on and around Elm Street District to catch a glimpse of sights such as the Blandwood Mansion, a historic Italian-style farmhouse that played host to former Governor John Motley Morehead.

Carolina History & Haunts is open year round rain or shine, so ghoulophiles should dress appropriately—wear comfy walking shoes and leave bulky proton packs at the converted firehouse. The Charlotte tours meet in front of the Hearst Tower on Tryon Street, while Greensboro guests begin their spectral quest in front of the Melvin Municipal Building on 300 West Washington Street.

Although Carolina History & Haunts sometimes offers a discounted price online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.
