Cascades Indoor Water Park
July is the only month Cortland’s average high is above 80 degrees, making it much too chilly to go swimming most days—unless you head to Cascades Indoor Water Park. That's because it’s kept at 84 degrees year-round, making it the perfect place to escape both the bitter winter weather and incessant ice-cream-truck music. The massive 41,000-square-foot center is home to 500 feet of water slides, including two three-story slides that are centerpieces in the main pool. While these rides are meant for bigger aqua-lovers, there's still plenty to do for little tykes. Little Bears Falls is reserved for kids 48 inches and shorter, and its mini slide and swings are located in water that’s only 1 foot deep. Those looking to swim laps can head to the Northwoods Pool, which, even though it's located outdoors, is heated and open all year. Afterward, they can warm up in the Hot Springs hot tubs.
Elsewhere in the water park is the Starlight Arcade, where guests tired of real water can play Hydro Thunder, plus favorites such as skee-ball, air hockey, and other classic games. And the Edgewater Cafe sates appetites with pizza, burgers, and wings, plus soda, beer, and wine for guests who didn't already fill up on chlorinated water at the pool.
