About Cascades Raptor Center
The trails winding through the woods at Cascades Raptor Center are home to more than just trees. More than 45 birds, including six types of hawks and eight types of owls, perch in the aviaries among the woodlands. Sharp-eyed falcons spy visitors as they meander down the path, while bald and golden eagles stretch, showing their impressive wingspans and warm plumage. The special calls of ospreys and kites can be heard along the trail, which is home to both native and non-native birds, ranging from the Snowy Owl to the Eurasian Eagle Owl, which hails from Eastern Europe and Asia.
In addition to preserving the trail, the center's staff helps visitors get acquainted with these birds during special raptor programs including the Take a Walk on the Wild Side program (must be booked two weeks in advance), wherein groups learn about raptors, touch artifacts, and meet birds face-to-face outside of the aviary. During Keeper Talks, visitors can see some birds out of the aviary, watch training, and ask questions.
