Dicing carrots and mincing garlic in preparation for a stew is a laboriously risky affair, unless it's done without knives. For $39, new students get one month of unlimited martial-arts classes at Castle Rock Martial Arts, voted Best of the Best in Martial Arts by Colorado Community Newspaper in 2009. This Groupon gets you into any class, making it a $150 value for adults; the Little Ninja program is a $120 value. Students in the Little Ninja program (ages 3–6) are eligible to attend about 12 classes per month, and everyone else (seven years and older) can attend about 30.

Master Scott Carroll, a fifth-degree black-belt division leader and certified instructor for more than 10 years, helms the punchy practice. Courses incorporate a variety of styles including tae kwon do, Brazilian jiujitsu, kung fu, judo, tai chi, karate, hapkido, and seven different weapons. View a complete schedule of classes here. Lessons are taught every day but Sunday, and no experience is necessary. Those opting to continue instruction after the month can purchase a uniform at a discounted price before this Groupon expires.

Reviews

The News Press featured Castle Rock Martial Arts' Scott Carroll, and the studio has earned numerous "best of" and "finest" awards in Castle Rock and Douglas County:

  • Belts, certification and degrees aside, Carroll has one goal for his role in martial arts training — to make his students better than himself, both as an artist and as a person. – Benn Farrell, The News Press

CityVoters made Castle Rock Martial Arts a 2009 nominee for Best Martial Arts in Denver:

  • They are FUN, STRUCTURED, and have my child LOVING karate while being able to be focused/pay attention. They use what they learn in real life scenarios with "stranger danger" so it makes the learning of moves feel USEFUL. – Grace L.
  • Great teachers! Make class fun!! – Kara

Castle Rock Martial Arts
