About Cave Spring Park
For years, running rivers and natural erosion have created natural wonders and landmark caves that dip beneath the surface of Southeast Missouri at Cave Spring Park. Equipped with flashlights, visitors begin their journey into the park's namesake Current River Cavern as the temperature drops to a cool 58 degrees Fahrenheit. Overhead, the natural cave formations create beautiful overhangs, while an underground waterfall feeds the stream beneath the boardwalk. Thanks to conservation efforts, the cave's natural wildlife is largely preserved (note that sleeping bats aren't fond of flash photography). Meanwhile, Black Light tours show off the same cavern in the UV spectrum, bringing new colors, patterns, and creatures to light. The natural wonders don't stop once the cave tour ends—the park is full of geological activities like Gem and Fossil Panning, Mineral and Fossil Museum, Nature Center, and a Quarry where you can dig your own minerals and fossils.
