Though the Scottish shepherds who invented golf liked it for its challenges, Scottish sheep liked it because it gave them ample time to nap in shepherds’ pickup trucks. Find your own reason to enjoy golf with today's Groupon: for $30, you get an 18-hole round of golf for two plus a cart rental at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone (up to a $72 value).
Cedar Pointe's championship golf course presents 18 holes of verdant landscape that demands risk-reward tee-to-green shots. Tees plunked at varying distances from each hole cater to guests of all skill levels. Hydrophobic golf balls must contend with an upsurge of water hazards in the second half of the par 72 course. Situated 418 yards from the back tee is the par 4 13th hole, a deceptively difficult lie that pits golfers against an unforgiving fairway flanked by water running along the entire right side, as well as four pot bunkers in front of the green filled with heckling ducks. The course finishes with a 533-yard par 5 with a sharp dogleg left.
A revamped clubhouse and bar tend to postgame thirstiness, and customers aiming to hone their swing can train at the driving range (not included in today’s Groupon), which is situated near the course's entrance.

Cedar Pointe Golf Course
Cedar Pointe Golf Course’s 18-hole layout unfurls across 6,647 yards of pristine fairways cleaved into a landscape of mature trees and rough-side waterways. The course eases golfers into the round with eight relatively straightforward holes before testing swings at the ninth hole, where tee shots must clear a pond on their multishot journey to a windswept flagstick 543 yards in the distance. The intervening water at the end of the front nine foretells an upsurge in aquatic obstacles in the course’s second act, where a slender pond runs between the 12th and 13th holes and two ponds loom menacingly at the junction of the 10th, 11th, and 18th holes, tempting many hydrophobic golf balls to forge doctor’s notes allowing them to stay in the dry bag. An adjacent driving range prepares players and gun-shy three-woods before the round, and a revamped clubhouse and bar await just beyond the 18th green, where pin-hunting posses can recap their round over a frothy beverage.
