Eco-friendly florist, praised in New York Times, teaches students to arrange bouquets & vases to take home in hands-on class
Presenting loved ones with a bouquet of freshly picked flowers expresses more thoughtfulness than giving them a fistful of uprooted grass or gently blowing dandelion seeds in their face while they sleep. Exemplify the finer points of plant giving with today's Groupon: for $125, you get a two-hour flower-arranging workshop with drinks and snacks from Celadon & Celery at Opulen Studios in downtown Los Angeles (a $300 value). Classes will run Monday through Saturday from October 24–November 12, starting at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.
The duo of florists at Celadon & Celery arranges locally sourced flowers, moss, and succulents into asymmetrical vases and tabletop landscapes, earning lavish praise from the New York Times and other publications. During two-hour workshops on the art of flower arranging, School Director Ivie Joy introduces students to the most essential of flower-bundling skills: vase arrangements, hand-tied bouquets, and the appropriate number of roses for bribing traffic cops. In each class, a balance of hands-on practice and demonstrations edifies students, with Ivie showcasing her skills to fuse vivid colors, textures, and organic elements into gorgeous bundles. All students will craft their own bouquet and vase to take home in a free reuseable tote bag, and can munch on light snacks and beverages while taking notes on seasonal flowers and the best way to sprinkle a mailman's truck with rose petals.
